SPECIALIST SPORTS FENCING
SPECIALIST SPORTS FENCING
Sports fencing requires a higher level of durability than standard security fencing. It needs to withstand the repeated impact of balls and players while ensuring the safety of spectators. At Direct Fencing & Contracting, we specialise in installing high-specification fencing for Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs), tennis courts, and football pitches.
We offer a range of solutions designed to keep the game in play and the public safe. From twin-wire rebound fencing (strengthened for high impact) to spectator rails and high-level ball stop netting, we ensure your facility meets the specific requirements of the sport—whether it’s hockey, football, or tennis.

FAQs
FAQs
What is "Rebound" fencing?
Rebound fencing is designed specifically for ball sports (like football and hockey). It typically has double the number of horizontal wires in the lower 1.2 metres of the panel. This makes it incredibly strong and allows the ball to bounce off it consistently without damaging the fence.
What is a MUGA?
MUGA stands for Multi-Use Games Area. It is a fenced enclosure with a synthetic surface suitable for various sports (football, basketball, tennis). We specialise in the fencing systems that make these areas secure and practical.
Can you install ball stop netting?
Yes. For areas where balls might fly over the fence (e.g., behind a goal or near a road), we can install high-level netting extensions or roof netting. This is a cost-effective way to increase height without heavy steelwork.
Do you include gates for maintenance equipment?
Absolutely. We can install single pedestrian gates for players and wide double-leaf gates to allow access for maintenance tractors or emergency vehicles. All gates are fitted with flush hinges to prevent injury during play.
What height should sports fencing be?
It varies by sport. Tennis courts are typically 2.75m to 3.0m. Five-a-side football pitches are often 3.0m to 5.0m (sometimes lower on the sides). We can advise on the recommended heights for your specific facility.
